Obituary

Sympathy, ah! Sympathy you show to a lone tree
Writing obituaries in haste…wait for God’s decree
Burnt in your ire lay all my kin, my kith…dead,
I, bare, lifeless wait ….for fate… yours instead
You lived off my leaves, fruits, roots like a parasite
Plundered, raped, chopped me to prove your might
But I am a fighter…
My roots are protected in mother’s womb; my seeds sheltered in air
sprout, spread, to watch your destruction, I’ll be there…
I was....long before you came into being, will be there when you cease to exist.
But you will perish, buckle under your own sins, fade into mist
No, I won’t die, will live to see you scorched, burnt to chaff
Writing your obituary,then...I will have the last laugh!

  1. A powerful piece, Meenakshi....This illustrates the placidity and unresponsive attitude of the man..nothing less and nothing more..!! Such will power retain and move lives.
    Wonderful attempt....deep insight into Nature.

  4. it is after posting my comment that i read the other two comments.. one has used the word 'powerful' and other 'gem'.. i ended up using both without prior cognition of comments above..

this itself shows that this one indeed is a ''powerful gem''...

    thumbs up.. :)

  16. And without the papers made out of a mighty tree is needed to write an obituary too. Strong message. Very true. We humans should feel bad and not proud for their actions
