Just say it!

No, I am not alone, physically, for you are sitting by me.

Eyes locked in the bleeping images of screen,

keyboard and phone taking turns to keep your fingers busy.

Sometimes a cursory glance comes my way, deflects, unable to pierce the orb.

My eyes trying to engage yours in a dialogue, manage a languid monologue.

No I am not alone, a drop that blurs my sight, sits on my lashes briefly,

listens to my silent soliloquy, before giving in to gravity,

Too heavy to bear the load, I so callously put on its delicate shoulders.

No, I am not alone, when you go to sleep, fatigued, waiving a wordless goodnight.

Moon meanders through the window pane, sits beside.

With his silvery hands in mine, we weave together night.

till it’s time to go beyond the fence of dawn,

Many such woven nights I tucked away in the drawer.

…may be some day you open it by chance…

I know you love me, but push aside any worthless emotion.

Urgencies of life, hardly assign time to wasteful demonstration.

Seed of love that lies dormant in a recess of heart, still has life.

Before moulds of mundane eat away that seed, touch the cheeks for reasons holier than need.

Before eagle of time swoops away our chance, hold my hand, let’s relive that romance.

Say you love me before this void becomes our fate. Say, say it before it’s too late.

    1. In this mad rush of life, relationships are often the first causality. Either we ignore them or take them for granted. Communication is the lifeline of any relationship. Flow of words ensure that blood of vitality flow through relationships.

      Thanks Reshma!

  10. The loneliness, the desire for change comes out beautifully in your poem--the end gives succor that it is only a difference of perspective & not lack of affection.

    1. Sometimes it only that we start take people and relationships for granted. We never get to know when inertia seeped into relations and made them dull.

      Thanks Ma'am.
