IceAge

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 35; the thirty-fifth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton. The theme for the month is "...and the world was silent again"

Winters…
rigid, relentless, rebellious
shivering bodies, bare souls
stunned into inertia
a scream broke the mirage of silence…
Winters…
pierced though pores, bit into bones
numbing snow, feet dug into soft trap
frost bitten toes ached, deserted legs,
couldn't move to help,
...blood curdling screams.
eyes laden with frost, shut,
oblivious to desertion, decay
...invisible screams.
ears froze, wrapped under layers,
seeking warm reclusion
heard no more… no words, no help calls,
...not even screams.
sounds dropped one by one…and the world became silent…again.
all senses in quarantine, heart left to nurse its own pain,
heart…where the winter set in
turning rivulets coursing through veins…white
screams couldn't broke in
everything still, devoid of life but claws…
moved nimbly to satiate  hunger,
beastly, dispassionate, unkind
hunger…insatiable, deaf, blind
using everything weaker, meeker to fuel its fire
...silenced screams.
earthly winters will end soon…
but no respite,
in sight,
from the iceage that has set in
...on mankind.

    ठंड की ठिठुरन से
    खुदा आपको बचाए रजाईयो की गलन से
    बदली छटे
    धूप पड़े

  10. I wish and hope everyone reads this and then comes out and makes a NOISE ..It because it takes a loud voice to make the deaf hear

    as our martyrs said
“I Dont want your tears , I don’t want your pity, I want your ANGER about this system, Given your anger CHANGE WILL COME, Unless there is anger how can everything change ” ?

    1. A loud noise, generally is prohibited in snow for the fear of avalanche! I wish we yell, shout, scream aloud and bring on the avalanche.

Thanks for well thought comments, Bikram. You always add value to my write-ups.

  13. Woah! Very nice. All through, you kept me on the verge of understanding the poem.. until the end part started coming. Till then, I was kind of guessing what follows next. Very beautifully written.

It's a very hard post. I dont know what that means.. but that's what comes to my mind at the moment.

  18. Most poems hit my head and bounce straight back. At times though, some seep in and make a nest in my psyche.

  19. Ouch--that is brutal.
    "but no respite,
    in sight,
from the iceage that has set in
    ...on mankind."
Now as I connect this piece with the Hindi poem I just read, I feel the last two stanzas of that poem--I want sun back on my verandah...
